Qianjin: A 66-year-old hiker, Yu Jinhé, and six others embarked on a traverse of the southern section of the Central Mountain Range in January two years ago. Yu later died from abdominal pain in the Taoyuan mountain area. The Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office accused Shen, the trip leader, and five others of failing to provide aid, charging them with negligent homicide. The Kaohsiung District Court found that the defendants could not have foreseen the fatal outcome and acquitted them. The Kaohsiung High Court upheld the first-instance ruling, finalizing the case.
