The Yilan County Fire Department received a report around 7 p.m. that a group of 11 people had gone hiking on the Gaofeng Forest Road in Nanao Township early that morning. They were scheduled to descend by 5 p.m., but three men and one woman lost contact. The fire department dispatched search and rescue personnel and vehicles from the Nanao branch to assist.
