He had planned to return home on the evening of February 29, but his family grew anxious when he still hadn’t come back by March 1 and reported him missing to the Nantou police and fire department.
In response to the report, Nantou police and firefighters conducted search operations yesterday and today in the areas near Erping Mountain and Mingtan in Shuili Township, as well as the mountainous regions of Xinyi Township. Police officers, firefighters, and volunteer firefighters were deployed a total of 100 times, but as of this afternoon, there has been no sign of Zhuang. The family continues to stay in contact with Nantou authorities, providing possible hiking locations and routes.
Relatives of Zhuang said that during the holiday, he would typically drive to Nantou and then switch to a motorcycle to enter the mountains, choosing specific spots for hiking. Police have found Zhuang’s car near Shuili Railway Station, with his mobile phone left inside, but his motorcycle has not been located. Police in Xinyi and Shuili continue searching within their jurisdiction for the motorcycle to help determine the exact area for further mountain searches.
The family has also been spreading information about Zhuang online, hoping that the public will report any sightings of a green Tailing motorcycle. Relatives noted that on February 28, Zhuang visited Liujia Plum Garden in Xinyi Township to buy plum jam, but the jam was not found in his car—indicating he did not return to his vehicle. They are asking residents in the Shuili, Xinyi, and Liujia Plum Garden areas to keep an eye out for any related clues. 1050303
