Nantou: A 52-year-old man surnamed Chen and his 46-year-old friend surnamed Pan hiked up from Shanlinxi on the 15th to visit Shuiyang Forest near the border between Chiayi County and Nantou County. Chen fell ill in the evening and fell into a coma. The Chiayi County Fire Bureau notified the Nantou County Fire Bureau for support. Three members of the Lugu Fire Brigade hiked up overnight and arrived at the scene at around 7:00 a.m. on the 16th, but Chen had already shown no signs of life.
