Chiang Hsiu-chen, the world’s first woman to climb the Seven Summits and complete ascents of Mount Everest via both the southern and northern routes, appeared energetic and composed during an interview today (the 17th). She stated that although women may not have the same explosive power as men, she was far ahead of her male companions when reaching the summit, because women possess extraordinary perseverance that manifests at the right moment.
Chiang Hsiu-chen said that striving to adjust oneself to achieve a harmonious and optimal state of mind and body is a lesson one must learn on their own. Learning independence and enduring solitude in the mountains are essential skills that need to be prepared for in advance. With every high mountain climbed, one gains more humility, and the descent is the real challenge.
