The 77-year-old surnamed Lin told his family on the morning of the 10th that he was going to hike at Changshou Mountain in Sanxia. When he failed to return home that evening, his family reported him missing to police and firefighters. They said Lin had gone hiking alone, carrying enough water and food for one day, but had no warm clothing and did not bring any communication devices.
After receiving the report, firefighters immediately began search efforts. It took eight days before his body was found today in the Shimen mountain area of Tucheng. By then, the elderly man had already passed away, leaving his family devastated by the tragic news.
