How beautiful Taiwan is, and how much happier it is to explore it with Mom！Nature, like a mother, nurtures a rich and diverse ecological beauty. As Mother’s Day approaches, the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications encourages everyone to step outdoors with their mothers. It has specially recommended high-quality eco-experience tours across Taiwan, inviting families to roam and experience Taiwan’s nature together.
Starting from May 4, 2017, there will be an activity giving away eco-experience tours worth a total of NT$250,000 “Eco-Experience Tours Giveaway” and 50 “Eco-Experience Discount Vouchers” worth NT$5,000 each, allowing more people to treat their hardworking mothers and learn more about the ecological features of different parts of Taiwan while enjoying its beautiful natural scenery.
I. “Eco-Experience Tours Giveaway” Event
To help more people appreciate the beauty of Taiwan’s ecology, from May 4 to May 14, there will be an event giving away eco-experience tours worth a total of NT$250,000. Participants can answer ecological questions on a designated post on the official Facebook fan page “Roam Taiwan Eco-Experience” and agree to share their travel stories online after the trip to be eligible to win one of 26 quality eco-experience tour packages. One winner allows two people to go together.
You can explore the secret passage of Xikou in Chiayi with your mom, stepping into a magical journey. Follow the guide to learn about the traditions and modern aspects of Aogu Wetland, feel the season of migratory birds, and experience this cradle that nurtures endless life.
Or take a stroll along the Jianqing Nostalgic Trail in Taipingshan, Yilan, to experience the atmosphere of the primeval forest and a “forest breath” baptism; or head with family to Shipu in New Taipei’s Jinshan to take a boat ride for a cultural experience of the unique fishing method “Sulfur Port Fishing Fires,” witnessing the spectacular sight of sardines chasing the light and thousands of fish leaping out of the sea.
Of course, at the Guanwu area of Shei-Pa National Park, admire the mountain mist, the romantic and mysterious forest scenery. In spring and summer, the mountains are in full bloom with Yushan azaleas, Formosan azaleas, and Taiwan pieris. Roaming freely among the giant trees is also an unmissable experience.
II. “Eco-Experience Discount Voucher” Event
The Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications has launched the “Taiwan Local Tourism Ambassador” selection event since April 26. Through creative travel videos, it selects one tourism ambassador each from northern, central, southern, and eastern Taiwan to share the country’s rich and diverse ecological beauty. Registration ends on May 15, and online voting opens on May 17. Participants in the vote have a chance to win a “Eco-Experience Discount Voucher” worth NT$1,000 (total of 50 available).
Taiwan boasts abundant ecological resources, with seasonal activities such as firefly watching, whale and dolphin watching, migratory bird watching, eagle watching, and purple crow butterfly watching. To encourage the public to experience, understand, appreciate, and enjoy boundless nature, the Tourism Bureau has planned eco-experience activities with a total prize pool of NT$680,000. The public is invited to join in, jointly creating a sustainable environment and preserving natural resources.
