Tianchi Mountain Lodge is located 13 kilometers along the western section of the Nenggao Traverse National Trail. It serves as an important accommodation and emergency shelter for hikers tackling the Nenggao Traverse and surrounding peaks, while also functioning as a hub for ecological conservation and forest patrol. However, the lodge’s toilet has suffered severe vandalism. Recently, the Nantou Forest District Office completed repairs and urged hikers to take better care of the lodge’s public facilities.
The Nantou Forest District Office explained that the toilet at Tianchi Mountain Lodge was recently repaired by a contracted vendor. Shockingly, the blockage was caused by underwear and a headlamp, which were so severely lodged that simple methods failed. Workers had to smash the entire toilet to remove the obstruction, then install a new one to restore functionality.
Li Zhengxian, director of the Nantou Forest District Office, stated that Tianchi Mountain Lodge is situated in a remote high-altitude area where transporting supplies and maintaining equipment is challenging. He called on hikers to respect the lodge’s facilities to avoid impacting other visitors. The office plans to gradually upgrade the lodge’s infrastructure to provide hikers with better amenities and services.
