The Yilan County Fire Bureau stated around midnight on the 9th that at 10:30 a.m. on the 8th, a group of hikers entered the mountain via the Taman Mountain trailhead in Fuxing District, Taoyuan City. They planned to descend via Forest Road 110 to Mingchi Lodge in Datong Township, Yilan County, aiming for a same-day round trip. The group consisted of eight men and one woman, but en route, a 60-year-old man surnamed Su slipped and fell about 50 to 60 meters down to the bottom of a stream.
The Yilan County Fire Bureau received a forwarded report around 11 p.m. on the 8th and dispatched personnel and vehicles from the Datong branch, along with officials from the Forestry Bureau and the Sanchong Police Precinct, to assist. According to the fire bureau, fellow hikers reported that Mr. Su had external injuries but was still conscious. However, with temperatures dropping in the mountains, his condition remains uncertain.
