A graduate student surnamed Li from Nantou County’s Lugu Township got trapped on a cliff in a virgin forest while hiking alone. Upon receiving the report, the Lugu Fire Brigade immediately mobilized 15 officers to search the mountain. After nine hours of searching in the primeval forest, they successfully located the student at 2:22 a.m. today, the 16th, and safely escorted him down the mountain. The professional and brave efforts of the firefighters and volunteer rescuers deeply moved the family, who repeatedly expressed their gratitude.
Fire department personnel revealed that the graduate student surnamed Li had climbed Phoenix Eye Mountain alone on the 15th, ascending via the Wannian Hengqu Trail, but became lost in the virgin forest due to unfamiliarity with the local terrain.
After searching for a way out on his own for several hours, the graduate student, exhausted, called 119 for help near a cliff.
Upon receiving the report, the Nantou County Fire Bureau immediately dispatched the Lugu Fire Brigade, sending a total of 15 firefighters and volunteers to carry out the rescue. After nine hours of searching, the rescue mission was successfully completed early this morning.
Firefighters from the Lugu Fire Brigade also noted that the 22-year-old graduate student from Tainan had set off alone on the 15th from the Wannian Hengqu Trail in Lugu Township, heading toward Phoenix Eye Mountain. As the path was surrounded by virgin forest and he reached a point where both the ascent and descent were cliffs, he could go no further, realized he was lost, and called 119 for rescue.
Fortunately, knowing the area was covered in virgin forest and filled with cliffs, the Lugu Fire Brigade took an alternative route to reach the scene more quickly. After nine hours of searching, they finally located the graduate student surnamed Li and safely escorted him down the mountain in the early hours of the next day at around 2 a.m., successfully completing the mission.
