Nantou: A 36-year-old female mountaineer, known in the climbing community as the “bikini girl,” was climbing the Central Mountain Range’s “Maobo Traverse” solo when she fell into a valley near Penjushan in Xinyi Township on the 19th. The Nantou County Fire Bureau launched a land and air rescue operation. A helicopter from the Air Rescue Squadron took off on the afternoon of the 20th but had to turn back due to poor weather conditions. Ground rescue teams are expected to reach the site on the 21st.
