The “Dance Tour Project,” initiated by choreographer Zhou Shuyi and a group of dancers, will stage six free outdoor performances in Yilan from tomorrow, June 6, through Sunday, June 11. The venues include the National Center for Traditional Arts in Yilan, the Lanyang Museum, and the Diudiuang Forest Square in front of Yilan Railway Station. Initiator Zhou Shuyi said the project comes from a simple yet significant dream: to dance for everyone. The performances will showcase the UK’s Sadler’s Wells Global Dance Competition first-prize-winning piece *1875. Ravel & Boléro*.
This “Dance Tour Project” is one of the founding initiatives of the dance troupe [Mr. Zhou and Dancers]. This summer, through a ticket-free, stage-free, and lighting-free format, they are bringing dance out of traditional theater spaces and into the streets and lanes of Taiwan, aiming to perform in public spaces across the entire nation.
