To help members of the Chiayi City Deaf-Mute Welfare Association realize their dream of traveling by high-speed rail, Mao Jiapeng, station master of Taichung HSR Station, presented tickets to the association today, encouraging the mute to step outdoors and experience a different life.
Huang Yonghuai, chairman of the Chiayi City Deaf-Mute Welfare Association, said that most of the association’s members are middle-aged or elderly individuals with multiple disabilities who had dropped out of school early, and their living conditions are generally not good. The vast majority of the members have never traveled by high-speed rail to date.
Because the members have always hoped to take a high-speed rail trip together, but due to financial constraints, their wish has never been fulfilled. After learning about this, Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation sent Mao Jiapeng, station master of Taichung HSR Station, to the association today to present the tickets, hoping to offer the mute an unforgettable journey.
Huang Yonghuai expressed deep gratitude for the warmth and kindness shown by the high-speed rail company, which helped the members step out of their usually isolated lives. With spring in full bloom, they now have the opportunity to take a high-speed rail trip for a light getaway to Taipei. To show their appreciation, they performed nostalgic old songs in sign language today.
Mao Jiapeng said he hopes this high-speed rail experience trip will give friends from the mute community the chance to go outdoors and experience a different life, and to understand that high-speed rail is not just a transportation industry, but also one of life, creativity, service, and warmth. 1050327
