Do you remember the 76-year-old "Guest House" in front of the Guanshan Railway Station in Taitung County? Recently, the Guanshan Township Office has been hosting a Guanshan market event centered around historic buildings, aiming to let visitors experience the charm of Guanshan through heritage building tours and local markets. Among them, the Guest House is opening its first and second floors to the public for the first time, giving more people a chance to learn about these remnants of a bygone era.

Guanshan became a development hub during Japanese colonial rule due to its abundant resources such as cypress and camphor, which also led to its grid-like street layout. As the elders say, "You can't get lost in Guanshan because you can see everything at a glance!" During the first event on May 31, Guanshan heritage building expert Zhong Minyuan led a group of over 30 travelers on a heritage building tour. Starting from the old station master's dormitory, they visited and learned about historical sites along the way, including Dahua Hang, Fushengtang, Dongren Western Pharmacy, and the old official residence. The Guest House also opened its first and second floors to the public for the first time, allowing visitors to see the room layout of the all-cypress second floor. The simple setup of a bed, a wooden stool, and a teapot in the inn seemed unchanged through time.
