One-of-a-kind Experience: Hokkaido’s “Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU” Themed Suites – Sleep Embracing Salmon

Hokkaido boasts abundant natural resources and unique charm. The resort “Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU,” located in central Hokkaido, takes advantage of its exceptional forest setting. In June 2017, it launched a one-of-a-kind Cloud Sea-themed suite, and in October, it introduced a Salmon-themed suite inspired by the autumn salmon run, also emphasizing its “only one in existence” appeal.
TOMAMU covers a vast area, and the resort’s hotels are divided into two areas: “The Tower” and “Risonare.” Stepping into the Salmon Suite at the top of The Tower, you’ll also find thoughtfully prepared “salmon-themed slippers” by the hotel — their warm orange hue isn’t too bright, creating a very relaxing vibe.

The entire room is decorated around the salmon theme — carpets, sofas, chairs, and curtains all feature images of returning salmon. Even the mugs are custom-made, and uniquely, each single seat is paired with a “salmon egg pillow.” The room includes a massage bathtub and sauna, alongside a whole tray of salmon roe, exquisitely cute in detail.

The Salmon Suite is a double room type, ideal for newlyweds or couples. Aside from its inventive design, the operator also offers an exclusive “smoked salmon” experience for guests. On a vast, lush green field, salmon is carefully smoked with applewood and cherry blossom wood, then served along with smoked sausages, bacon, and cheese, all while enjoying the boundless mountain and forest scenery — a truly indulgent experience.

Additionally, guests staying in the Salmon Suite are treated to a specially prepared salmon dinner on the day of their stay. From appetizers to main courses and desserts, every dish ties into the salmon theme. Even better, the entire restaurant is reserved for just the two of them that evening. Apart from attentive service from the chef, there will be no other disturbances, allowing guests to fully relax and enjoy a private night together.

Meanwhile, the Cloud Sea Suite located in Risonare has been available for reservations since June. The room’s decor centers around clouds. Compared to the later-launched Salmon Suite, the earlier-released Cloud Sea Suite has a slightly larger floor area, and its blue tones also bring a sense of relaxation. Most uniquely, the Cloud Sea Suite features a “round double bed,” alongside a cloud-shaped hanging chair — sitting on it feels like floating in a sea of clouds.
