Taitung Hot Air Balloon Festival takes off! 16 colorful balloons soar over the valley

The Taitung Hot Air Balloon Festival officially launched on the morning of the 27th at the Luye Gaotai grasslands, drawing a large number of visitors. During the opening ceremony’s “mass ascent,” a variety of colorful balloons—such as zebras, hearts, and a boy-shaped balloon—took off one after another, with 16 balloons in total scattered across the sky, coloring Taitung’s blue skies and white clouds. The internet-famous illustrated character “Uncle Rice Grain” also officially became a resident of Taitung that morning. He is portrayed as having been born in Taitung, going to Taipei to seek his fortune, and now returning gloriously to his hometown to register as a local. In the future, he will also help promote Taitung’s tourism.

The Taitung County Government stated that the evening light show event will begin traffic control around 4:30 PM. Vehicles will only be allowed to exit, not enter. Visitors are advised to park their cars at the temporary parking lot on Beier Road in Longtian Village and then take the event shuttle bus to Luye Gaotai.
