Thanks to the Shan-Hua Cattle Market, fresh-killed beef has become the top choice for Tainan locals when eating beef. Daily freshly slaughtered and delivered beef, simply blanched in well-prepared broth, is incredibly delicious. Recently, mimi found a place in Yongkang that’s both tasty and reasonably priced — [Zhouzhuang Beef House]. On weekdays, their beef hot pot + two side dishes + minced pork rice cost only NT$100, which is super affordable. The diverse chef’s specials are also perfect for family gatherings or after-work meals. Check it out~

[Zhouzhuang Beef House] is located on Zhonghua Road in Yongkang, right next to National Electronics. It used to be a frog charcoal grill shop, but now it’s been transformed into a beef hot pot spot. There’s a bold and eye-catching purple cow on the roof, so it shouldn’t be too hard to find~

The shop is bright and clean, and even better, the air conditioning and fans are all on, making it super cool~ That’s a big plus for me, because Tainan summers are scorching. Eating here is way more comfortable than sitting under a tin roof or under a building awning.

Utensils and condiments at the shop are self-serve, and of course, you won’t miss out on the essential ginger strips + soy paste — the perfect match for beef hot pot~

Since the shop offers fresh-killed beef hot pot and other dishes, drinks and beer are naturally available. It’s also a great spot for family gatherings or hanging out with friends.
● ETtoday News Cloud reminds you: Don’t drink and drive, and don’t drive after drinking.

The fridge is stocked with various hot pot ingredients. Maybe try the beef hot pot another day~ There are no color-coded plates; each plate is NT$50, just help yourself.

The meat comes from Shan-Hua, where it’s slaughtered daily. They even take a taxi there twice a day. The bright red color of the meat on the cutting board is the freshest hue of fresh-killed beef.

The owner is super fun and easy to chat with. To run her beloved beef hot pot shop, she even went to Shan-Hua to learn how to cut meat herself. Because the beef isn’t frozen and must be sliced along the grain, it’s especially difficult to cut — knife skills require long-term practice to master.

What makes [Zhouzhuang Beef House] different from others is that it doesn’t just offer beef hot pot — there’s also beef hot pot, stir-fried dishes, and several signature home-style dishes, all made with fresh-killed beef. For beef dishes, the prices here are great value, and the variety is very diverse.

If you want a simple meal, the most cost-effective beef hot pot set is a must-order!! Nowadays, you can hardly find fresh-killed beef hot pot in Tainan for NT$100, with rice and sides included. Plus, besides beef, you can choose beef offal or brisket... and refills on broth are free, which is super cheap. PS. The set discount is only available on weekdays, so no sides are included on holidays~

The portion of meat given is also amazing — the spoon scoops up a big lump. The beef slices after blanching turn slightly pinkish, which is when they’re at their best texture.

The broth here is made using beef bones, brisket, vegetables, and apples. After blending with the beef blood water, it tastes refreshing and slightly sweet. The owner says she’s allergic to MSG, so the shop refuses to use it, nor do they add any powder or artificial flavorings.

The brisket soup also comes in a big bowl, with some red cabbage inside. The meat is parboiled in the kitchen first before serving, then the prepared broth is poured on top. The pieces are larger and chewier, but the broth lacks the sweetness from the beef blood.

Because the beef dishes at Zhouzhuang are so tempting, a few days later, mimi brought her family back. Her husband’s family doesn’t eat beef, but my side of the family are all beef lovers!! No doubt, all of this in front of us is fresh-killed beef cuisine. (Only the cabbage dish on the right isn’t.) Beautiful and delicious — it’s basically French cuisine in the world of Tainan local beef XDD

My little brother, who loves trying beef everywhere, said such beef restaurants are really rare — all the meat is fresh, and the prices are around NT$180–220, which is quite affordable.

Japanese-style beef with lettuce: the plate is covered with fresh lettuce, topped with tender blanched fresh-killed beef... with a hint of wasabi flavor, the taste is very refreshing — perfect for summer.

Thai-style beef slices (NT$200): it has a Southeast Asian sweet, sour, and slightly spicy flavor. The beef is pre-fried, so it’s crispy outside and tender inside — super tasty with rice. The chefs also carefully plate the dishes, making it a great option for after-work dinners. Also, the owner said they often develop new dishes — there might be several more next time you visit.

Three-shred beef tripe salad: it’s quite spicy, which was a bit too much for mimi, but the Q-texture of the beef tripe pairs perfectly with the strong flavors — definitely a great drinking dish.

Daikon beef offal stew: it’s basically Taiwanese-style white radish stewed with beef offal — the flavor is excellent and well-infused. The radish is delicious, and so is the offal. Just this dish alone could have you polishing off two bowls of rice. Highly recommended!!

Salt-grilled beef with lettuce (NT$180): the chef said this is the only dish using American beef. The beef and other ingredients are all wrapped in the lettuce to eat — seems a bit like a Korean style. If you want to eat more greens, I think this is also a good choice~

Tamagoyaki beef rolls... everyone was super surprised when this was served!! So pretty @@" The fresh-killed beef is carefully rolled on the outside, and the tamagoyaki is actually made using the beef broth, not the usual Japanese dashi — it’s really thoughtful. The flavor is slightly mild, but it pairs nicely with other stronger-flavored dishes.

Shaoxing wine-marinated beef heart: you can taste a subtle Shaoxing wine aroma, along with other herbal flavors. It’s a more delicate dish.

This seared raw beef dish is also super flashy — way too colorful!! Squeeze some lemon juice or pair it with mustard sauce. The melt-in-your-mouth texture is amazing. Or pick up some of the onions on the bottom layer — also really tasty. Compared to common beef hot pot or soup, this kind of beef dish feels fresh.

This three-cup oxtail is also highly recommended by everyone — super flavorful and delicious ><"牛尾巴有着满满的胶原蛋白,稍微有点像猪脚,不过建议一定要趁热热的时候快点吃,牛皮冷掉后会稍微变硬。虽然蛮多都不错吃,但这应该是心目中的NO.1了吧@@"

Finally, the hidden gem (not on the menu), but mimi forgot to ask the name = =" The chef said they only make about two portions a day, because beef bone marrow is really rare!! Unlike beef, the bone marrow has a texture somewhat like fish maw — soft and fluffy, very unique. It’s a stronger-flavored dish, a really tasty side to help finish off your rice XD

Overall, although it's a relatively new beef soup shop, the soup tastes pretty good, and they seem more willing to show genuine hospitality to their customers. Especially the weekday set meal deals are really appealing to me—I’ll definitely come back to try their lunch sometime XDDD

As for fresh beef cuisine, that’s even more of a specialty at 【Zhouzhuang Beef House】. The menu offers a wide variety, and the chef plates the dishes as meticulously as in French cuisine—you can really feel the care and sincerity from the owners. The service staff are also very friendly. It’s quite a rare find of a place where you can either enjoy a bowl of beef soup or have a full beef feast with family and friends.
Lastly, I’d also recommend using the mobile app 【JiuHuo Joyful】. It features hundreds of Tainan food options, and you get 15% off for orders over 100 NTD—it’s super handy. And 【Zhouzhuang Beef House】 is listed on there too, so you can save even more when dining there~ (Special discount sets are not eligible for additional discounts).
