Taiwan tour group encounters landslide accident in Hubei, China; Dongsheng Travel Agency issues statement

A Taiwan tour group encountered a landslide in the Three Gorges scenic area of Yichang City, Hubei Province, China, this morning (15th). It is currently known that three people have died and two have been injured.

It is currently known that three tourists have died, namely:

Li 0 Qiang (Male, 49 years old)
Wang 0 Hong (Female, 55 years old)
Ge 0 Qiang (Male, 54 years old)

In addition, two tourists were injured:

Yang 0 Xuan (Female, 35 years old)
Kong 0 Chang (Male, 66 years old)

The Dongsheng Travel Agency has issued the following statement:

The Dongsheng Travel Agency’s group consisted of 43 tourists + 2 tour leaders
The Three Gorges cruise tour (Golden 6) that departed on October 13 is originally scheduled to return to Taiwan in the early hours of the 19th

At 10:10 AM today, October 15, 2016, we received a call from the Taiwanese tour leader Mr. Lian
Incident details: Due to heavy local rainfall causing loose rocks, tourists were struck by falling rocks while sightseeing

By noon, it was confirmed that among the 43 group members, three had died (Li ○ Qiang, Male, 49 years old) (Wang ○ Hong, Female, 55 years old)
(Ge ○ Qiang, Male, 54 years old). As for the handling of the bodies, we will assist according to the families’ wishes
Two people were injured (Kong ○ Chang, Male, 66 years old) (Yang ○ Xuan, Female, 35 years old). The injured have been sent to Yiling Hospital in Yichang
The other 38 group members will continue their itinerary as planned under the guidance of Tour Leader Jiang and the ship attendant, with an expected arrival in Taiwan in the early hours of the 19th

Our company will do its utmost to assist with all subsequent insurance claims and the handling of the deceased’s affairs
We will also do our best to assist the families in traveling to Yichang to handle matters related to the injured and deceased tourists

Our company has purchased travel agency liability insurance worth 2 million NTD from Cathay Insurance as required by government regulations
As well as additional accidental medical insurance worth 200,000 NTD
And additionally purchased Cathay Travel Safety Insurance worth 1 million NTD
