There are now YouBikes in the woods too！ New Taipei City adds 5 new stations on the 14th for borrowing and returning

New Taipei City’s YouBike system was launched at midnight on the 14thShulin District: Shulin Railway Station (back entrance), Wenlin Elementary School, Da’an Activity Center, Guanghua Park, and Xinzhuang District: Toucheng Junior High SchoolThese five new stations bring the citywide total to 148 stations and 3,800 public bicycles available for service. To encourage the use of YouBikes, riders in New Taipei City still enjoy a subsidy of free riding for the first 30 minutes. The public is welcome to make full use of the service. The Transportation Bureau also reminds users to check the brakes, tire pressure, lights, and seat height before borrowing a bike, to follow traffic rules while riding, refrain from carrying passengers, and to pay attention to the signal indicators during borrowing and returning to avoid any incorrect deductions that may affect their rights.

The Transportation Bureau stated that this launch of rental stations extends into Shulin District for the first time. Given the large number of commuters using the railway station in the Shulin area, after communicating with relevant departments, a YouBike station has been set up on the roadside at Exit 6 Lane, Back Entrance Street of the railway station, along with the simultaneous activation of four other rental stations to facilitate transfers for the public.

Additionally, considering the limited pedestrian space around Zhentian Street, it has been planned to build a station at the intersection of Banlinxi North Road, about 150 meters from the front entrance, to better meet the transportation needs around the front and back entrances of Shulin Railway Station. It is expected to be operational by the end of July. Moreover, daily life and external transportation in Shulin District and Xizhi Area are closely interconnected, so efforts are currently underway to set up stations there as well, with some Xizhi sites expected to be operational by the end of July, further improving the “last mile” service.
