Summer Travel Survey: 50% of People Plan to Go Abroad, with a 10x Budget Difference Between Domestic and International Trips

Summer vacation has arrived, and the food and lifestyle platformiPeen iPeenconducted a survey on people’s summer travel plans. Nearly half of respondents plan to take domestic trips during the hot summer season, while around 40% of outbound travelers have budgeted between NT$30,000 and NT$50,000. Those who choose to stay within the country mostly keep their budgets under NT$5,000, just one-sixth of the NT$30,000–50,000 typically set aside for going abroad.

Among summer travel considerations, “travel time” ranked as the top priority for most people — over 30% aim to keep travel time within 3 hours. The second and third priorities are whether there are additional activities near the attraction and whether there is “good food” nearby. The fourth priority is whether the destination itself is cool and comfortable.

The survey shows that for Taiwanese people, “what food is available” is the most noteworthy factor. Most netizens also search for must-try snacks and restaurants near their destinations before going out. This has led to about a 30% increase in the number of users on iPeen iPeen looking up restaurants along with travel plans recently.
