Xingren Night Market Reopens After Typhoon Damage – Get a Free TV or Tablet Just for Visiting

Once known for using fully biodegradable rice husk chopsticks, Taoyuan’s Xingren Night Market attracted an average of 2,000 to 3,000 visitors daily, swelling to over 10,000 on holidays—making it the largest night market in northern Taiwan. However, the market was recently devastated by Typhoon Soudelor, with 6,000 ping of its shopping area suffering severe damage. After days of repairs and redevelopment, Xingren Night Market is set to reopen on September 11.

The Xingren Garden Night Market Management Committee announced that on the opening night, they will give away 9,999 free lucky red envelopes to visitors, with prizes including 20 TVs, 30 tablets, 100 bicycles, and more. Additionally, street performances and a fireworks show have been arranged. On September 12 and 13, there will also be street performances and charity events. Xingren Night Market will also collect donations for the Taoyuan Ark Special Education and Care Center, hoping to show the public the market’s undimmed passion and spirit after the storm.
