Autumn is a great season for family outings, but have you ever thought about going on a picnic by bike? On October 10th, theBike & Picnic Day in Hualien and Taitungwill be held, allowing cycling enthusiasts to experience the joy of riding through the countryside in the Huatung Valley and share a delightful picnic amid the beauty of the fields.

This year’s “Bike & Picnic Day in Hualien and Taitung” is jointly organized by the Huatung Valley National Scenic Area Administration and the Chishang Township Office of Taitung County. Unlike previous bicycle race challenges, the event takes “Cycling and Picnicking” as its theme, combining cycling experiences with nature, sunshine, music, and dance performances. It aims to provide participants with a relaxing and refreshing experience, immersing them in the charm of nature, enjoying the poetic scenery along the green corridors, and savoring the joy of cycling, picnicking, birdwatching, and admiring the landscapes of the rice fields and tea plantations.

Huang Dongtao, director of the Huatung National Scenic Area Administration, said that Beilang Boulevard in Chishang, Taitung, became famous after Takeshi Kaneshiro filmed the “I SEE YOU” commercial. Its winding country paths and endless rice fields, coupled with the absence of any power poles along the road, have earned it the nickname “the emerald paradise road.” Over the years, the Chishang bicycle trail has become part of many people’s leisure lives. With its unique geographical environment, well-developed bike path facilities, diverse local culture, and vibrant rural hospitality, this event will integrate local industries to promote the concept of low-carbon, light-travel living. The organizers hope to invite more visitors from outside the area to step away from their worries, head outdoors, and enjoy life.

Registration Method: Online registration only, with limited spots available.
Registration Period: From now until September 30
Event Date: October 10, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Notes: After registering, please print your online “Registration Certificate” and bring it along with your ID to the designated event assembly point on the day of the event. You can exchange it for a free bike rental voucher, plus one bike, one Oh Bear picnic mat, one bottle of mineral water, one food voucher, and one guide map. Starting at 11:30 AM, you can redeem one picnic box at the main venue, Chishang Dapo Pond, with your voucher. Limited to 1,200 participants.
