To encourage families’ elders to spend more time outdoors, the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications has been actively developing holistic wellness travel routes. A travel event for the silver-haired group was held at the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area. In addition to launching an electronic package that combines land, sea, air, and wellness dining, the Sun Moon Lake Administration Office planned short trips under the concept of “Low-Carbon Light Travel for the Elderly,” offering seniors multiple options.

Zhang Zhenggan, Director of the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration, stated that the newly launched electronic package itinerary for the silver-haired group integrates over 20 land, sea, and air transport services as well as hotels and merchants around Sun Moon Lake. By offering preferential pricing, it encourages seniors to go outdoors and enjoy happy travel experiences. In the future, they hope to expand collaborations to provide the public with even more affordable and convenient tour packages.
In addition to cable cars, boat services, and lake tour buses, the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration promoted senior-friendly travel programs in the Puli area by integrating low-carbon initiatives. In collaboration with the Greater Puli Cultural and Creative Association, they trained 20 professional Puli tourism guide navigators. They also utilized German sightseeing tricycles introduced by Feeling18 Chocolate Workshop and the Greater Puli Tourism Development Association. These vehicles, which emphasize low-carbon transport, operate mainly on manpower with electric assistance. The rear seat accommodates two tourists, while the navigator rides and introduces local culture and history, providing a high-quality, convenient, green, and low-carbon touring experience.

Ma Haochen, Operating Deputy Manager of Sun Moon Lake Hotel, said that the chef combines Chinese and Franco-Italian culinary styles using local ingredients as the foundation, rotating dishes seasonally to ensure both health and wellness.

In addition to the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area, other programs include the “Active East Coast Leisure Tour” in the East Coast National Scenic Area and the “Senior Slow Life Heart Tour” in the Alishan National Scenic Area. Seniors are warmly invited to join. The Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area has launched four electronic travel packages.
