Derry is a historic city with a modern appearance and is one of the few cities in Europe whose walls have never been conquered. The old town, surrounded by walls, is located on the west bank of the River Foyle, while today's city spans both sides of the river. Though not a large city, it is delightful to discover numerous attractions within its ancient walls, making the trip full of surprises. It is a city renowned for its architecture, featuring works in the Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian styles. St. Columb’s Cathedral is the most famous building, with its tall spire being the most prominent feature of the city skyline. St. Eugene’s Cathedral is also worth a visit.
