The rivers of Nitmiluk National Park have long been home to Australian freshwater crocodiles, while during the wet season, saltwater crocodiles also make an appearance. In addition to crocodiles, the park is also a habitat for various bird species, such as ospreys, red-tailed black cockatoos, paradise kingfishers, white-gaped honeyeaters, and red-winged parrots.
