Wei Family Tombstone

The Wei Family Tombstone was designated as a key cultural relic protection unit by the People's Government of Henan Province in 2006. Originally situated southwest of Zhangqiu Town, it was relocated to Zhangguang Village, Jiahe Township in 1986. There are six Ming Dynasty steles here. Among them, the stele for “Zhongxian Xiaowei and Jin Yi Wei Zhenfu Wei Liangfu’s Tomb” was erected in the 38th year of the Jiajing reign (1559), made from Yunnan marble, standing 3.43 meters tall in total; the “Fengtian Gaoming” stele was erected in the 4th year of the Longqing reign (1570), crafted from Han River stone, with a total height of 3.63 meters; and the “Wei Jun Tomb Epitaph” stele was erected in the 5th year of the Longqing reign (1571), also made of Han River stone, standing 3.84 meters tall. The “Wei Jun Tomb Epitaph” records how the founding ancestor Wei Shao joined the uprising led by Emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty, later assisted Prince Yan in northern campaigns and earned numerous military merits, as well as how his descendants were granted imperial titles and his great-granddaughter became a princess.
The Wei Family Tombstone is a provincial-level key cultural relic protection unit.
