Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve
Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve is situated in Australia's Northern Territory, east of Darwin, 70 kilometers from the city. Established in 1982, it is a vast wetland area and an important bird sanctuary — one of the few wetland systems in Australia that remains open to visitors year-round.

The reserve provides habitat for both local and migratory birds from afar, making it a favorite spot for photography enthusiasts. Known as the crown jewel of the Northern Territory, Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve holds significant international importance due to its unique charm, intact wetland ecosystem, and cultural value to Indigenous communities. Visitors can walk along the reserve’s boardwalks to viewing platforms and observe a variety of resident birds, some strolling leisurely, others flying about or foraging — all in peaceful coexistence. Aside from its rich birdlife, the reserve is also one of the largest snake habitats in Australia, with multiple snake species found within its bounds.

During the wet season, large numbers of saltwater crocodiles make their way into the reserve, while during the dry season, a few crocodiles can still be spotted in the wetlands. Don’t worry though — they stay in the rivers and billabongs.
