There is a small legend behind the construction of Htilominlo Temple. It is said that the king who commissioned the temple was chosen as the crown prince here among his five brothers, which is why he built his stupa at this very site. From afar, Htilominlo Temple can be seen standing tall in the fields. The 46-meter-high temple features an exquisitely crafted red brick exterior that, despite weathering over time, remains strikingly beautiful. Though the pagoda was damaged in the 1975 earthquake, it was well-restored, and many of the original murals still survive and are visible to visitors. The temple has three levels, and on the first and top floors, visitors can view four Buddha statues facing different directions.
On the exterior of Htilominlo Temple, you can also admire exquisite plaster moldings and sandstone decorations. Faint traces of ancient zodiac paintings meant to protect the temple from harm can still be seen on the walls.
