Jiaopingdu
Jiaopingdu is located southeast of Huili County, about 74 kilometers from the county seat. After crossing the Chishui River four times, the Red Army began marching toward Yunnan, preparing to cross the Jinsha River into Sichuan. Jiaopingdu was the Red Army's only route to survival. - Orders were given - to have the Cadre Regiment seize Jiaopingdu. On the evening of May 1, 1935, the Red Army’s Cadre Regiment arrived at the Jiaopingdu ferry site, found two old boats, and crossed the Jinsha River that night. They eliminated the defending Sichuan troops, secured the ferry, and later found four more wooden boats. The entire Red Army crossed the Jinsha River here. From then on, the Red Army broke free from the encirclement and pursuit by hundreds of thousands of enemy troops.
