The most renowned tourist attraction in Thompson is the Thompson Zoo, founded in 1978. Though not large, it is the only wildlife sanctuary in northern Manitoba and is home to over 100 animals. Pisew Falls, located in Pisew Falls Provincial Park south of the city, is the second-largest waterfall in Manitoba and boasts a majestic presence, making it well worth a visit. The Northern Heritage Museum showcases the heritage of the Indigenous peoples of northern Manitoba, while its natural history is displayed through geographical exhibitions.
