Wilson Trail

  Introduction
The Wilson Trail is a hiking trail in Hong Kong named after the former Governor of Hong Kong, Lord Wilson. It was officially opened in 1996, stretching 78 kilometres in total and divided into 10 sections that traverse numerous mountains from south to north across Hong Kong. It passes through all eight country parks in the territory and is the second longest hiking trail in Hong Kong after the MacLehose Trail. The trail is named in honour of Sir David Wilson, a former Governor who had a deep love for Hong Kong’s landscapes and hiking activities.
This 10-section hiking trail runs from south to north through all eight country parks in Hong Kong, including Tai Tam Country Park, Tai Tam (Extension) Country Park, Ma On Shan Country Park, Lion Rock Country Park, Kam Shan Country Park, Shing Mun Country Park, Tai Mo Shan Country Park, and Pat Sin Leng Country Park. The trail starts at the Stanley Gap Road in Tai Tam Country Park, moves northward over several peaks on Hong Kong Island to Quarry Bay. The third section begins in Yau Tong, crosses Devil's Peak, Ngau Yee Shan and others, turns westward to reach the Kowloon range of hills, then starts again from Kam Shan Country Park heading north to Kowloon Peak, climbs eastward to Pat Sin Leng, and finally descends at Nam Chung as the endpoint. Features of the trail:
To increase the challenge of the hike, the Wilson Trail traverses many of Hong Kong’s lofty mountains from south to north, offering ever-changing scenery. This hiking trail not only takes you through many of Hong Kong’s untouched wilderness areas where you can enjoy lush green mountains and clear waters, but also allows you to stand on secluded green ridges and witness the prosperity of Hong Kong’s cityscape. Here, you can experience the unique contrast of the vibrant city and the tranquil countryside standing side by side, divided only by dense foliage.
