It’s a great spot for visitors to enjoy tea, play chess, admire the scenery, and relax. Many leisurely guests sing folk songs or walk their birds here, adding a unique charm to the park. The children's playground within the park is a joyful world for kids.
Located in the southwest of downtown Guiyang, it faces Huancheng South Road in the front and borders Nanming River at the back,
hence the name Riverside Park. At the southern foot of the hill near the park, the river water is clear and ancient willows droop low, making it a great place for summer swimming. On the opposite bank upstream, there used to be a large willow tree, which is why the park was originally called "Willow Bay." Based on its entertainment functions, the entire park can be roughly divided into three sections: the children's amusement area, the science exhibition area, and the quiet rest area. The children's amusement area is in the northeast part of the park, on the left side of the main gate. Here, a small Ilyushin Il-14 passenger plane is parked in the playground for children to view, along with various electric spaceships, merry-go-rounds, a large newly built "merry-go-round" in the 1990s, and a lighted basketball court. The science exhibition area frequently hosts various science and technology exhibitions, providing a venue for science enthusiasts in Guiyang. The rest area is the main part of the park. On the highest hill is a cinema, facing which is the Dongfeng Pavilion. There is also a roller skating rink by the river. The park also has peach orchards, flower beds, and greenhouses. In spring, peach blossoms bloom vibrantly. The flower beds cultivate flowers such as winter jasmine, camellia, and chrysanthemum; the greenhouse houses potted plants including roses, asparagus fern, clivia, night-blooming cereus, cycads, and epiphyllum. The entire park has over 60,000 square meters of flowers, plants, and lawns, with a green space covering more than 660,000 square meters. It often holds events such as "Chrysanthemum Exhibitions" and "Orchid Exhibitions."
