The former site of the Guangdong–Hong Kong Strike Committee is located at the intersection of Yicui Road and Dongyuan Road on Dongdi. It was originally the garden villa of Li Zhun, the Viceroy of the Guangdong Navy, named “Dongyuan,” with a total area of 25,000 square meters. After the outbreak of the Guangdong–Hong Kong Strike in 1925, the leadership body of the strike — the Guangdong–Hong Kong Strike Committee — was established here in July. Strike leaders such as Su Zhaozheng worked from this location. On November 6, 1926, the building of the Guangdong–Hong Kong Strike Committee was set on fire by reactionary elements hired by imperialists, leaving only a gate tower and a large tree in front of the Red House intact. In 1984, the government funded the reconstruction of the “Red House” on the original site.

In July 1962, the People’s Government of Guangdong Province designated it as a cultural relics protection unit.

Pujitang is a provincial-level key cultural relics protection unit.
