Provincial Scenic Area. Located in Longgang Town, southeastern Kaiyang County, Guiyang City. Accessible via the Guiyang–Kaiyang Expressway to Longgang Town. Approximately 65 kilometers from the provincial capital, Guiyang. The scenic area features ancient strata, primarily composed of Cambrian early to middle period formations dating back 500 million years. The dominant rock types are limestone and dolomite, with some shale in localized areas. The geological structure within the area is complex. The terrain mainly consists of low–mountain and mid–mountain gorges. Since the Tertiary period, the significant elevation difference between the plateau and surrounding basins, along with active external forces, has resulted in deeply carved landforms, creating a naturally spectacular landscape of jagged peaks and deep valleys. In addition, the widespread exposure of low-carbon carbonate rocks, which are highly soluble, contributes to the unique karst scenery of the Zijiang Scenic Area. Opened to visitors in 2000, the Zijiang Scenic Area features a river valley stretching 14 kilometers and covering an area of approximately 25.4 square kilometers. The area highlights the canyon landscapes along both sides of the Zijiang River, with its distinctive and rare travertine shell formations as its highlight, and encompasses a rich collection of natural and cultural attractions such as waterfalls, springs, wells, peculiar peaks and rocks, pristine vegetation, and Buyi ethnic culture. The Lin’gu Waterfall stands 200 meters tall, with a width of 6 meters at its top, features multiple tiers, and flows year–round, presenting a grand and majestic sight. In its lower section, the waterfall splits into several streams, creating a breathtaking scene that, when viewed from afar, resembles a fairy in white dancing gracefully along the cliffs of towering peaks, her dress flowing elegantly. As the water cascades down, it forms multiple tiers of travertine, shaping features such as caves and curtains. The variety and scale of the scenery are remarkable. "Dragons Playing in Water" showcases crystal–clear river water, with the valley varying in width. The surrounding mountains rise about 150 meters on both banks, where six “little dragons” weave through steep slopes, dense woods, and bamboo groves, appearing and disappearing intermittently—an enchanting sight.
