Victory Memorial Site of the Tongdian Armed Uprising
Located at the North Tongdian God of Wealth Temple (memorial site) in Tongdian Village, Tongdian Township, Lanping County, and on the southern mountain peak of the current Tongdian Township government seat (where the memorial stele stands). On May 1, 1949, the Tong (dian) – Lan (ping) Special Committee of the Communist Party led over 200 members of the Youth Corps branch and the Peasant Resistance Association in an armed uprising, eliminating the reactionary forces entrenched in the Tongdian God of Wealth Temple. The Tongdian Uprising achieved complete success. The victory of the Tongdian Uprising fired the first shot in the liberation of Lanping and marked the prelude to the liberation of Nujiang, holding significant historical and revolutionary importance.

In October 1949, the First Sub-office of the Administrative Office of Western Yunnan was also stationed at the Tongdian God of Wealth Temple. In June 1986, the Victory Memorial Site of the Tongdian Armed Uprising was designated as a county-level key cultural relic protection unit of Lanping County. In March 1988, it was listed as a prefecture-level key cultural relic protection unit of Nujiang Prefecture. On May 1, 1988, the Lanping County Committee and County People’s Government of the Communist Party erected the “Victory Monument of the Tongdian Armed Uprising” on the southern mountain peak of the current Tongdian Township government seat. Today, the Victory Memorial Site of the Tongdian Armed Uprising and the monument are not only prefecture-level cultural relic protection units but also serve as patriotic education bases in Nujiang Prefecture.
