The Ancestral Halls of Jinlin Village
The Ancestral Halls of Jinlin Village are situated in Jinlin Village, Guanxu Town, Deqing County. In 2001, they were recognized as cultural heritage sites by the People's Government of Deqing County. The construction history of these ancestral halls dates back to the mid-Song Dynasty, flourishing during the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty. Seven ancestral halls (and study rooms) survive today: the Lixian Tan Ancestral Hall, Yingye Tan Ancestral Hall, Qingxuan Xie Ancestral Hall, Jinbo Xie Ancestral Hall, Tamin Tan Ancestral Hall, Songyan Xie Ancestral Hall, and Xieyi Study Room. These seven historic halls and study rooms cover a total area of 2,404 square meters, with a combined floor space of 1,980 square meters. During the War of Resistance against Japan in 1938, Zhaoqing Middle School was relocated to Jinlin Village and used these seven halls as school buildings, with the Lixian Tan Ancestral Hall serving as the main campus. Each hall boasts unique architectural features and houses a wealth of relics, including exquisitely carved murals, wood carvings, and stone engravings that are vividly detailed, all of which hold significant historical and artistic research value.
