Residential Houses on Heng Street

The residential houses on Heng Street are situated in Chengnan Neighborhood Committee, Desheng Subdistrict Office, at the center of the old city area. Heng Street runs from north to south, starting from Donghao Road in the south and ending at Shengli East Road in the north, with a total length of about 250 meters. The street is 3 to 3.95 meters wide. Originally paved with stone slabs, it has now been replaced with cement. Along both sides of the street are shops and residences, making it the most bustling street in Deqing County during the late Qing Dynasty and the Republican era. In the mid-Qing Dynasty, Heng Street was divided into Guxu Street, Huilong Street, and Wenhuixi Street, also known as the “Three Streets,” which were the main market areas of Desheng at the time. To this day, Heng Street still retains over 10 ancient residential buildings, temples, and buildings that once served as shops. It is one of the better-preserved old streets in Deshing County. In 2001, it was designated as a cultural heritage site by the People's Government of Deqing County.
