Zhenghe Donggong Mountain

The Donggong Mountain Scenic Area is a provincial-level scenic spot located in Yangyuan Township, approximately 70 kilometers from the county seat. Covering a total area of 50 square kilometers, it is named after a huge rock on the mountain that resembles the Chinese character "宫" (palace). Legend has it that during the Shang and Zhou dynasties, two immortals, Wei and Yu, practiced alchemy and ascended to heaven here. Buddhist tradition refers to it as the “Land of Happiness” or “Cave Heaven of Effortless Transformation,” and it is praised as the “Little Penglai” and “the Fujian version of Wuyi.” The area is known for its spectacular peaks, unusual rocks, beautiful waters, and dramatic gorges, featuring 36 pools, 49 caves, and 81 scenic spots. Major attractions include Qilin Peak, Nine-Hole Rock, Baofeng Rock, Mandarin Duck Lake, Hongxi Stream, Snake Head Rock, Turtle Rock, Bridge in the Mist, Sky Pillar Rock, Mysterious Stone Circle, “Lovers’ Valley,” Cuixi and Zhulinxi Gorge’s unique rocks, and the magnificent Longtan scenery. During the revolutionary war period, veterans such as Ye Fei left their battle marks in Donggong Mountain.
