Baiyun Qiaoyin
Baiyun Qiaoyin. Baiyun Rock is located in Baiyunpu Village, Jukoupu Town, Xinshao County. In the past, this place featured “steep cliffs in deep valleys with cascading springs” and “ancient trees and camphor groves blocking out the sunlight,” hence the name “Baiyun Qiaoyin” (Hermit of the White Clouds). The Baiyun Rock complex originally included the Foot Hermitage, Flower Hermitage, Middle Hermitage, Summit Hermitage, and Guanlong Pavilion, with a total floor area of over 2,600 square meters. It was home to dozens of monks, owned over 50 acres of temple farmland, dozens of acres of associative farmland, and more than 100 acres of mountain land. Pilgrims came from all directions, and incense offerings were unceasing. Especially on the 19th days of the second, sixth, and ninth lunar months—known as the birthdays of Guanyin, her enlightenment, and her nirvana respectively—worship reached its peak.
