Longmen Academy

Longmen Academy was first built during the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty. In the past, passing the imperial examinations was likened to “a carp leaping over the Dragon Gate,” and the name “Longmen Academy” carries the meaning of “a carp jumping through the Dragon Gate.” The academy has gone through three distinct historical periods: the imperial examination system, the old education system, and the new education system, and has always served as the highest educational institution in Zhaohua County. The current interior layout of Longmen Academy has been largely restored to its original form, featuring three main sections: ceremonial worship space, classrooms, and a library.
