Cloud Gate Peak
Introduction Cloud Gate Peak is situated in the southwestern part of Huangshan, in the southwest of the West Sea Grand Canyon, south of Stone Pillar Peak, and adjacent to Cloud Border Peak and Floating Hill Peak. It is one of the 36 major peaks, with an elevation of 1,645 meters. The rock walls of this peak split apart like a gate, standing opposite each other and reaching high into the sky, with only clouds able to drift through the gap, hence the name “Cloud Gate Peak.” Because the two cliffs face each other like a pair of scissors, it is also called “Scissors Peak.” Below the peak are Cloud Gate Spring and Cloud Gate Stream, with water flowing out from the “gate” and heading southeast.
