Located in Mazaiping Village, Gaoping Town, Jianshi County, it dates back to the early part of the Early Pleistocene. It is a natural limestone karst cave that runs from east to west, with a total length of approximately 150 meters. The eastern entrance is 6–7 meters high and 4–8 meters wide, while the western entrance is 3–4 meters high and 2–15 meters wide. From 1968 to 2000, more than ten excavations were carried out, yielding five lower molar fossils of early Homo erectus and over 70 species of mammal fossils—including those of Gigantopithecus—along with a considerable number of stone and bone tools. (Third Batch)

The Gigantopithecus Fossil Cave is a provincial-level key cultural relics protection unit.
