Baiyan Mountain derives its name from a towering white cliff that rises hundreds of feet up the mountainside, appearing as a sea of white clouds when viewed from a distance. With an average elevation of 1,270 meters, its highest peak, Zhangpijie, reaches 1,419 meters above sea level. The mountain boasts a rich diversity of plant species, with numerous trees, shrubs, and vines growing in thickets, and still preserves large areas of secondary primeval forest. It is home to dozens of rare and precious plant species under national protection. The area also sees frequent wildlife activity, serving as a habitat for many wild animals such as river deer, muntjacs, civets, badgers, pangolins, and wild boars. Baiyan Mountain features the Yuchi Water body, spanning over two square kilometers, where the graceful beauty of a southern alpine lake is a feast for the eyes. The mountain is dotted with numerous waterfalls, among which the Chaotianmen Waterfall is the most captivating. This waterfall cascades down from the mouth of the Chaotianmen cave, plunging dozens of feet in a spectacular display. Baiyan Mountain’s majestic terrain and picturesque peaks are abundant in rock formations and landscape features resembling various shapes. Watching the sunrise in the early morning, you’ll be greeted by endless sea of clouds; climbing to higher ground to admire the view, you’ll find yourself overlooking a sea of mountains with the sky seemingly within arm’s reach.
