The upper section is the Libi Gorge, also known as Niubi Gorge or Tongkou Gorge, located in the area of Yanjing Town, Hechuan, with a total length of 3 kilometers. The river here flows swiftly with unfathomable depths, and the high, steep cliffs on both sides create a deep and serene atmosphere. Scenic spots along the gorge include Juliang Beach, Lion Tomb, Smiling Monk, Ox Nose Cave, Monkey Rock, and Mozi Tuo.
The middle section is the Wentang Gorge, also called Hot Spring Gorge or Wentang Gorge, situated in the Jinyun Mountain area, with a total length of 2.7 kilometers. In ancient times, there was a hot spring pool at the mouth of the gorge, known as Wentang, which gave the gorge its name. The river surges and roars through the gorge, with swirling eddies and a majestic momentum. The cliffs on either side of the gorge are no more than 200 meters apart, standing upright like they were carved with knives and axes. Springs gush from the mid-section of the cliffs like boiling water, emerging from cloud-rooted crevices, creating beautiful scenery that is considered the crown jewel of the Little Three Gorges.
The lower section is the Guanyin Gorge, also known as Wenbi Gorge, with a total length of 3.7 kilometers. At the riverbank of the gorge stands a huge rock resembling an official tablet, commonly called Wenbi Rock. Nearby, atop the high cliffs, there is an ancient temple named Guanyin Pavilion, from which the gorge gets its name. The Guanyin Gorge features sheer cliffs thousands of feet high, rugged rocks, and a winding river, making it the most precipitous of the Little Three Gorges of the Jialing River.
