Manhyia Palace Museum
Manhyia Palace Museum was originally the villa of the kings of the Ashanti Kingdom, built by the British in 1925. After Ashanti King Nana Prempeh I was exiled to the Seychelles, he returned and constructed Manhyia as his residence because his former palace had been burned down during the war. Since then, it has served as the office of the Ashanti kings.

The exterior of Manhyia Palace Museum is light yellow. It is a two-story building designed in an early 20th-century Ghanaian architectural style, with verandas on each floor that offer views of the surroundings. However, on August 12, 1995, Manhyia was opened to the public as a museum. Exhibits include furniture used by the kings, bronze artifacts, a map, and Ghana’s first television set. There are also wax figures of Ashanti kings and queens on display.

Manhyia Palace Museum has a large courtyard where statues of Ashanti kings and queens are placed. In 1995, an additional building was constructed next to the museum to serve as a gift shop selling souvenirs and small items.
