    Wild Orchid Communities

In the vast expanse of the park, the deep layer of humus beneath the mountain streams and forests provides an ideal growing environment for tropical orchids. Over 70 varieties of precious orchids grow here, including Ivory White Cymbidium, Winter Fairy Cymbidium, Glabrous Lip Cymbidium, Black Cymbidium, Five-fingered Cymbidium, Dendrobium densiflorum, Shrimp-back Cymbidium, Curled Cymbidium, and Jade-lipped Cymbidium. In the Yajia scenic area, at an altitude of 1,230 meters in the high mountain valley, clusters of Jade-lipped Cymbidiums display their crescent-shaped leaves that are soft yet resilient, with upright flower spikes blooming with small red flowers. The fragrance is intoxicating, and the blossoms remain vividly red for up to half a year. Their graceful posture inspired the Tang Dynasty poet Tang Yanqian to write in his poem “Ode to the Orchid”: “The breeze sways the emerald rings, while cool dew drips on the jade-like leaves.”
