In reality, what’s called the “crocodile pond” is actually just a body of water surrounded by lush green grassland where countless cattle, sheep, donkeys, horses, and pigs come to graze. Locals live in harmony with the crocodiles—some even wash their clothes in the pond’s water. Visitors can enter the pond area to feed the crocodiles with chickens and take photos with them. Local villagers have set fees: 4 cedis for foreigners to visit the pond, 3 cedis per chicken to feed the crocodiles, and additional charges for taking photos. Contrary to what you might expect, taking photos with the crocodiles is not only safe but the crocodiles are also quite cooperative with visitors. So feel free to snap pictures with them—even if you tap them, they’ll obediently lie down and let you pose with them.
