Children's Traffic Park
Children's Traffic Park is bordered by Zunyi Road to the east, Xianxia Road to the south, and residential buildings to the west and north. The site was originally the Tianshan Orchard. In 1984, it was approved for reconstruction into Tianshan Children's Park by the Shanghai Municipal Basic Construction Committee. The overall planning and landscaping design were overseen by Xie Jiafen from the Design Office of the Shanghai Municipal Gardening Administration Bureau, and the construction was carried out by the Shanghai Municipal Gardening Engineering Company, with a total investment of 1.655 million yuan. Construction began at the end of 1984 and was completed in May 1987. Zhou Gucheng inscribed the park’s nameplate, and it opened to the public on International Children's Day the same year. In 1999, due to the widening of Zi Yun West Road, 2,259 square meters of the park’s land were requisitioned, reducing the actual area of the park to 21,192 square meters.

Children's Traffic Park integrates landscaping, simulated architecture, and traffic facilities to educate children about traffic rules through play and foster good behavior in following traffic order.

  Main Attractions (Sites)

Grand Flower Bed: Located inside the park gate, it is oval-shaped with an area of 540 square meters.

Children’s Sculpture: At the central intersection of the park stands a stone sculpture of a child, 2 meters tall with a 1-meter base, designed and created by the Sculpture Design Office of the Shanghai Municipal Gardening Design Institute. Surrounding the statue are three lawns: one 40 square meters to the north, and two others, middle and south, each 80 square meters.

Education & Publicity Building: Located in the southern part of the park. This two-story reinforced concrete structure has a floor area of 335 square meters. The upper floor houses a photo exhibition room and a video screening room, while the lower floor contains a garage, storage rooms, and a ticket office. The square outside the building serves as the management, service, dispatch, and practice area for children’s ride-on vehicles.

Simulated Roads: There are five roads in total, laid out according to the orientation of major downtown roads: Nanjing Road and Huaihai Road run east-west, while Tibet Road and Ruijin Road run north-south, with Zhongshan Road forming a loop. The total length is 794 meters, with widths ranging from 2.5 to 6 meters. The roads are equipped with various traffic signs, markings, road signs, and traffic lights. Flowering plants and hedges line the roadsides. Among the roads are eight formal-style lawns: six central lawns each covering 534 square meters, and two southern lawns each covering 767 square meters.

Simulated Buildings: There are eight structures, including the Shanghai Mansion, Peace Hotel, Great World, Shanghai Exhibition Hall, Shanghai Television Station, Shanghai Stadium, and Hongqiao Hotel. They range in height from 1.73 to 6 meters and occupy areas between 2.7 and 22.4 square meters, standing on the lawns alongside relevant simulated roads. At the end of the "Huaihai Road" section, there is a pedestrian overpass, beneath which lies a simulated Xuhui Square, featuring a circular flower bed with an area of 50 square meters at its center.

Arbor: Located at the western end of the park, this open flat-roof arbor is covered with climbing star jasmine vines and covers an area of 86 square meters. Benches are placed under the arbor, and flower beds and flower borders are situated along its edges.
