Baoxu Hot Springs

　　    Baoxu Hot Springs, formerly known as Wentang Hot Springs, is located in the valley where the Chunwan Stream and Jinjilie converge in Baoxu Town. This valley is called Wentangdong, and situated slightly north of the middle of the dong are two hot springs, an upper and a lower one, about 20 meters apart. The upper hot spring measures 8 meters in length and 7 meters in width, with a depth of over three meters, and the water gushes out with considerable force. The lower hot spring is 8 meters long, more than a meter deep, with gentler water flow. Both springs emit warm water. According to the Old County Annals: “The Wentang water is located 180 li north of the prefecture. When first touched, it feels warm, and upon measurement, the water temperature reaches 70 degrees Celsius. The two hot springs can spout out one cubic meter of hot water every three minutes. The springs contain large amounts of sulfur and other minerals. Local villagers often bathe here, and skin diseases are cured without further treatment. Bamboo and wooden items soaked in the springs are protected from insect damage.”
