Longshan Lake

Longshan Lake
Introduction       Situated in the middle and upper reaches of the Yalu River (within the reservoir area of the China–North Korea Yunfeng Hydropower Station), it is a famous scenic area in Jilin Province. Longshan Lake was formed by the damming of the Yalu River, which serves as the border between China and North Korea. The lake stretches in a long, narrow, winding shape, extending 130 kilometers in length, 2 kilometers in width, and as narrow as 400 meters at its tightest points. To the west of the lake lies the Laoling Mountain Range of Changbai Mountain, while to the south it connects with Ji’an City. Across the water is North Korea. The lake features verdant peaks and emerald waters, showcasing the steepness of stone forests, the misty allure of the Three Gorges, the bizarre rocks of Yandang Mountain, and the delicate beauty of the southern water towns.     The lake has wide expanses of water with rippling waves, and lush, well-preserved vegetation along its tree-lined shores. In spring, the vast territory is set off by green mountains on both banks, with fishing boats and pleasure crafts gliding through the waters. In autumn, the river turns a brilliant blue, and the layered forests blaze with color, enhancing the stunning and pleasant scenery.
